The Honest Conversation - Recovery & Purpose

The Honest Conversation, Made Eazy

The Path to Follow

Howdy Y'all,

Most of the roads I walked down led to the same dead end: uncertainty, unhappiness, insecurity — all those wonderful feelings we all love to feel (totally kidding, they suck).

I was told life was simple: graduate high school, go to college, get a good job (sales, law, finance, etc.), get married, have kids, move to the suburbs — and happiness would take care of itself.

So, I tried it. Spoiler: it wasn’t my experience.

Two of those “life milestones” were absolutely worth it — meeting my incredibly smart, kind, and beautiful wife, and the birth of our daughter. But the rest, especially the career part, turned thorny fast.

Living Through Trauma

By 27, I had been to rehab three times for alcoholism, sat in more therapy rooms than I could count, SA survivor, and pulled my father out of a car wreck that nearly killed him.

Through it all, I realized something painful but true: only I could do something about it. With the help of the people who refused to give up on me, I made a choice after that third rehab stay — die in a bottle or try life. I chose life.

Success on Paper, Misery in Practice

Recovery and sobriety didn’t instantly mean clarity. My career was another battlefield. I was a corporate technology salesman — good at it, financially stable, even successful by most standards. Promotions, six-figure deals, a house in the suburbs.

But every “win” felt hollow. I kept telling myself the next level — bigger deals, more money, another title — would make the misery disappear. It never did. My mental health suffered, and I felt guilty even considering walking away.

Choosing a Different Life

Deep down, I knew I was meant for more than selling software. I wanted to use my past struggles — alcoholism recovery, trauma, career burnout — to help others facing similar battles.

So, after countless late-night conversations and soul-searching, my wife and I made a huge decision: I quit my career to start The Honest Conversation, Made Eazy.

Why This Exists

This platform is for anyone who’s struggling, searching, or just tired of pretending they’re okay. It doesn’t matter what you look like, where you come from, or what you believe. If you value honesty, kindness, and community — you belong here.

Because life isn’t one-size-fits-all. And sometimes, the most important thing you can do is start having an honest conversation.

Remember : We are on this rock TOGETHER, whether we like it or not :) Love each other, lift each other up, and make sure to keep life Eazy. Much Love.

-Joe
